Structural Challenges Await – Join us as Our Next FEM Expert

Career opportunity: FEM Engineer

Are you a FEM Engineer with a passion for FEA simulations, maritime structures and always looking for creative structural solutions? With us, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your expertise to new builds and conversions of ship structures (commercial and offshore), large crane foundations and foundations for transporting wind turbine components, among others.

You are responsible for the modeling, simulation, analysis and reporting of the complete calculation process. This calculation can range from a single component of a maritime structure to a full ship analysis and from small sea fastening solutions to the total upgrade of a crane vessel. The structure is assessed based on various failure mechanisms, such as strength, stability (buckling) and/or fatigue.

For geometry modeling, we use Rhinoceros, which we have fully customized to automate the export of geometry and properties to Ansys APDL. The calculations are performed in ANSYS APDL, allowing us to automate analyses through APDL scripting and Python programming. This ensures maximum control over the setup, analysis and validation of calculations. The final step is the documentation of the work for the client or potential classification approval.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

✔ Model, simulate and analyze maritime structures such as ships, offshore platforms and equipment foundations.
✔ Identify technical risks and contribute to design optimizations.
✔ Develop automation tools within Ansys using APDL and/or Python.
✔ Collaborate with project team, clients and classification societies across various maritime sectors.
✔ Stay up to date with the latest techniques and regulations in FEA.

YOUR PROFILE

✔ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Maritime Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
✔ Experience with Ansys Mechanical or similar FEA tools.
✔ Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to problem-solving.
✔ Familiarity with maritime structures and relevant standards is a plus.
✔ Experience with programming in ANSYS APDL and/or Python is a plus.
✔ Strong communication skills in English.
