Hartman Marine’s M2 Runners and R2 Carriers are open-top
cargo vessels, designed to transport large, heavy, and voluminous cargo. Both are designed for maximum deck area and hold volume in the smallest possible package, and thereby offer superior performance over other vessels of similar capacity. In addition, both types are capable of offloading offshore, and the R2 Carrier offers the addition of a Ro-Ro ramp on the aftship.
DEKC Maritime was responsible for all structural design and detail engineering of these two vessel types. This involved the set-up and class approval of the construction plans and the creation of detailed plans and workshop drawings for the shipyard. Extensive use of FEM analysis was made when designing the steel structure of the vessels.
Design support was also provided for the conversion of one
of the R2 Carriers to a fish-feeding vessel. This involved many local modifications to the structure and on-board systems, including the installation of two pump jets in the double bottom.
